Many people do not realize that when a person, such as parent of sick spouse, enters a nursing home and has Medi-Cal pay the cost, when the parent or spouse dies Medi-Cal will recover the funds from the person's estate! If the person in poor health owns a home, all the homes value or money from the sale of the home is not going to be available to the well spouse, or children(s) inheritance unless you act now to prepare the proper legal documents. The inheritance that the children though they would receive could be minimal or nothing! A well spouse's finances could be severely hurt!
